Though I am more than happy to see members create their own topics, now that I have Beethoven and Handel largely out of the way I will have time to ceate topics for members if they are requested here.

The creation will consist of some background info on the music and some supporting Audio/Video examples, and a few comments from me. Of course I will be expecting the requestor to make a few posts in the topic as well once it is up and running.

Simply post the title of the music in this thread and I'll see what I can do...

Hi TMT,
CMM forums contain so much that I have yet to discover, so I am not sure whether this topic has been covered.

I wondered if you could help with creating the subject of music that is so evocative that hearing it at any time takes you way back into your memories? The difficulty is that it may not be a Classical piece---so where would it fit in?

Last night I found such a piece and was transported, across the world and to April 1956---and it wasn’t Classical music, which is a 'turnup for the books', as I have rarely listened to anything but!
This was long before the time, when as a solo parent it was a case of “if you can’t beat them you have to join them”, during the teen years of my 4 chn. For my sins I had to endure the popular music of the day,---but I will say it was a lot more interesting and tuneful than what is around now. You may remember , Rod!

I haven't sorted out a title,(if on should be needed), and you kow my woeful performance at attaching anything---so if it is viable, I will have to crave your help, though I am well able to "talk", and spin a story, as you well know!

Regards,
Polly

Check out the Music Forum topic indexes, if the piece is not listed in any of those then it's open for consideration.

If it's not a classical piece it does not fit in the Music Forums in any case. Non-classical music is discussed in the Officers' Mess only.

Remember if you have any topic ideas for the four 'music forums' feel free to drop the name of the music in question here and I'll be happy to create the thread with an introductory post (& audio/video samples where possible) in our usual format. Of course members are still free to start topics themselves.
