The site will be revamped by freeforums in 5 days to the new php bulletin board standard. Once complete the site will operate largely the same from the user perspective but there will be a few new tools to play with and the user interface will be prettier. There will be more features on the homepage too. But it requires some features to be tweaked or reset so it may take a day or two or three for me to get around to changing everything, like reloading the rank badges for example. If you notice anything not quite right please mention it in this topic.

PS no posts, topics or forums will be lost as a result of the switchover, or so we have been promised.

I wondered when the switch was coming. Have they finally worked all the kinks out or are they just going to do it anyway?

Apparently the process is now automated so they must have been up to something. It may not happen in exactly 5 days (now 4), but sometime during the following week all the switches should be done the ff admin has said.

Note from ff admin...

"This has been postponed until we complete the simple admin panel we are working on. We expect this to be finished around June 22nd and will let everyone know closer to this date. We feel this will make the transition much easier."

I'm not surprised they're revising the admin panel, it is so complex compared to the current set up I'm sure it would be beyond your average forum operator's comprehension. Of course wiseguys like me can get to grips with it in a day or two.. or three.. :D

But hopefully when it's all done and dusted the site will look great.

On the other hand they could be delaying it simply because that's what FF does best.

Conversions are scheduled to commence next week. Good news is that in my V3 test forum I've worked out how to add a youtube embeder that uses the same entry codes as the current set-up, ie , so once I have installed this code on the new site all the current embeded youtubes should appear without the need to amend the respective posts. I say should of course...

FF powers that be are now saying "depending where you are in the queue" conversions might not be done until the end of July or August. In FF-speak that means "we may get you done by Christmas..." :?

Well it may not be such a bad thing, they are still tweaking and improving the v3 set-up even now. So I guess it is better to wait and have a facility with more features that actually works, than get in quick for something that will have me visiting the support forum every day as has been the case for the 'early adopters'.

Please be patient, as expected FF has issues with the upgrade.

Wow, everything is all shiny and new. I feel like taking my shoes off.

I haven't decided on the default skin for this site but this will do for the moment.

RE Embeded Youtubes..

Although I have installed a youtube embeding button into the post toolbar, but I have discovered it does not recognise the existing embeded youtubes unless you click to edit the post and then click submit button (no actual editing needed). So if you have any embeded youtubes in your posts please go to them and do the above.

Moderators of you come across any kindly do the above, I have done a few myself but there are a lot out there.

Cheers.

RE Homepage..

We have a fancy homepage but it isn't working so I have disabled it. I have reported everything to the support forum but I have no idea when this and all the other glitches at the site will be resolved.
