Exactly one year today CMM was born!
Though it took a couple of months for the site to reach it's current form, and Freeforums was offline for much of the time between October and December '07 due to a botched server hardware changeover. So really it was not until January the site was fully designed and functional on a consistent basis. The finishing touch being the Officers' Mess on Jan 23rd.
So a big thanks for the hard work of all those who have participated at the site over the past year!
TMT

Happy birthday CMM!
The thing that's so great about this forum is that it's much more hands-on than any other music forum out there. Instead of sitting about and discussing augmented fifths, diminished thirds, counterpoint, and the type of undergarments Beethoven preferred (was he a boxers or briefs guy?) we actually discuss the music itself, and have fun doing so!
That said, time to party!
As a birthday present to all of you, here's a really cool GIF I found:

Thanks for all the comments guys, but what SE has written here is the essence of what I wanted to create with this site. After over 10 years involvement with classical music forums online it was becoming increasingly apparent to me that music was becoming less and less the focus of the discussion and instead copious amounts of inane waffle what what these sites were becoming all about. So the solution I sought was to bring music squarely back into the equation and this site is the result. And hopefully the recording industry will gain some small benefit from the promotional activity we do here!
Thanks for the Beethoven 'Birthday Cantata' SE, which is performed rather formlessly here but is so rare to hear that we should be glad for small mercies. For more info in this piece look here...

PS the youtube is perfect from my 'Hillbilly jig' manner of dancing!

Thanks for that link, Rod; Answers.com does well at providing good information on more obscure works. And yes, it's a shame about the plainness of the recording I've presented, but beggars cannot be choosers...
