Forgive me if this topic has been discussed before and please feel free to direct me to where it has. I was wondering, out of my prying curiosity, how many CDs do the members purchase in a given month? And does your CD buying get you into any trouble? Either financially or with your significant other?
I suppose I average at least ten purchases a month when I am buying music. For several years I have concentrated on building my movie library and have recently started back in collecting classical music again. Fortunately for me I live in a community that has two universities and a community college. One of the universities (the University of North Texas) is widely known for their music program. Consequently the used bookstore here has literally thousands of titles for sale (most at under $8.00 per disc). So my budget isn't hit too hard. I do have a tendency though that if I purchase some unknown composer, if I like them, I will go back and buy everything else they have in stock. I have a penchant to collect obscure and unknown composers. Not that I don't like and collect the biggies too but I love hearing music that not everyone is listening to. I have always been that way. I'm lucky enough that my wife does not object to my obsessive collecting habits. I don't think I could stop after all these years anyway. I do wish I had every single album I have ever bought in my life though, but circumstances at various points have dictated me having to sell off collections. I hope that never happens again!
Anyway, I just thought this topic might prove to be fun!

Well we haven't had a topic quite like this before. Years back I used to buy lots of recordings but these days, now that I have most of the things I want, I seem to only buy three or four a month a most.

I too suffer a bit from that predilection. But then again I'm an obscure and unknown person. As for the CDs? At least a dozen a month but twenty wouldn't be unusual or even thirty or more is not unknown. Having said that I would happily accrue more if it wouldn't terminate in perilous, nay fatal impecuniosity. Art before life is my motto!

My situation is similar to yours. We have a lot of music shops in Nashville, both new and used, and I'm in a music club. I usually go to the used CD store once a week and impulse-buy if something sounds good. So between all of them, I usually end up with one a week. But I'm needing to cut back; I'm running out of room.
My domestic situation is also similar to yours. A few years ago my wife bought me a CD player for my birthday. Then for Christmas, she bought me headphones. I thought everybody liked to listen to Charles Ives .
By the way, I like your avatar picture. I hope Carl Nielsen is graduating from the obscure composer category.

I've never really thought about how much I'm buying... I'd say about ten a month or so. It depends; sometimes I can go for months without buying one album, then I'll go overboard and buy an insane amount!
