Well you don't have to be a member of CMM to vote in this Poll. If we removed our noble visitors from MForum I doubt Mozart would grace the throne. But what about Liszt? He has received only one vote to date. _________________ "If I were but of noble birth..." - Rod Corkin

I'm astonished to see that Chopin hasn't rocketed to number one in spite of my featuring him twice in a row on the hugely popular( ) Salon thread. Who is this Mozart character anyway?
PS- Naturally it was I who voted for Liszt. _________________ "No one achieves frivolity straight off. It is a privilege and an art;" - E M Cioran

Hey the 'salon' thread is quite popular, 91 replies and 691 views. Compare it with my recent 'Semele' topic - one reply, and that was from me! _________________ "If I were but of noble birth..." - Rod Corkin

Looks about right, though my recent experiences have led me to believe Handel should be a bit higher-up than his current position. _________________

That's true but it is simply a sign of ignorance, however if it wasn't for the ex-pats from MForum you'd be saying the same about Mozart too in this poll. _________________ "If I were but of noble birth..." - Rod Corkin

True, though I'd probably put Vivaldi ahead of Brahms, Stravinsky, and Schubert too. _________________

...And I could claim the same thing about "simple ignorance" if Mozart hadn't made first. _________________

Rod, We're sorry your hero in not number one but you need to quite complaining about the results of your poll I feel Brahms and Stravinsky are undervalued. Maybe you need a poll of the most undervalued composers

I'm not complaining at all! I have one hero at Nr2. The world is not knowledgeable enough yet for my other hero. But I knew that would be the case before I created the poll. _________________ "If I were but of noble birth..." - Rod Corkin

My point above is that you don't have to be a member of the forum to vote, and Mozart's high position in the poll is not a reflection of the current membership, it is a reflection of the membership of Mozart Forum who have hijacked the poll. I suspect some people have voted more than once as well. But this is only a divertimento so I'm not too concerned.
The site will be undergoing a significant revamp some time in the near future and multiple choice polling will be available for the internal system where only members can vote (currently the polls allow only one choice). I will run the same Trinity poll again using the internal system, we will then see the truth of things. _________________ "If I were but of noble birth..." - Rod Corkin

I think the Trinity poll will be enough, too many and they become boring. _________________ "If I were but of noble birth..." - Rod Corkin

With due respect, I disagree. I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that Mozart's high position is typical of the world's opinion in general

We will see the truth when the new members Trinity poll is created. If you are right then Handel's low position in the poll means the opinion of 'the world' is not really something of great value. _________________ "If I were but of noble birth..." - Rod Corkin

No argument on that point. In the case of Mozart though, I must have been referring the opinion of the musically educated world Looking forward to the Trinity poll.

I'm not too surprised that bus loads of Mozarteans are shipped in to make Mozart number 1 on this poll - we all know this happened as Rod says . !!! Mozart, alias JC Bach, alias Ordonez, alias Luchesi, alias Paisiello, alias...... Herr Attribution, etc.
