Well, different strokes for different folks I guess. I think they are awesome. If I were to make a list of my all time favorite music of all genres combined Figaro, Cosi, and Giovanni would all be in my top 20. I've only joined the forum yesterday and already I'm the weird one. HA! |
Believe me we've got, or have had, far more weird people that you here. I get top prize for that.
But don't worry, you've got time to work on it!

Can this be? Discussion of Mozart opera that doesn't involve constantly running in circles about conductor scores and a German singspiel??
I forgot this thread existed!

Yes, I am sure we don't need to ask questions 24 times in a row here. That's a good sign !

It is interesting that the Mozartians here have generally shown little interest in contributing to or creating more conventional topics concerning Mozart. Whereas they devote themselves to those of Mr Newman. Well don't you guys complain...

Yes Rod, they lorded it over the musical jungle for so long they just can't get used to hearing the other side. And yet they claim to be solidly 'scientific'. What area of scientific research rubbishes criticism ? Only those which are wrong. And that's what's clear here. They are the most sustained myth in town. A shambles unlike any other.
The music itself is sometimes wonderful but it has its own story. And that story does not enhance the status of their idol.

By 'conventional' I mean simply topics about and in appreciation of the music. Mozart is the Nr1 composer in the CMM Holy Trinity at the moment, yet there is not much going on here about Mozart... other than your Figaro topic!
