There's been a recent extension for firefox that will block any flash ads that show up (regular ad block won't do this). The extension name is flashblock, and I highly recommend it.

Just be aware that it will also block flash applications like YouTube, some of Amazon's preview clips, etc., however you can easily get past this just by clicking on the blocked ad.
