A funny thing happened on the BMG website. I thought I clicked to remove this from my shopping cart, but instead I clicked on the order button. Maybe it will be a fortuitous accident. Nielsen's clarinet concerto is very forward-looking, and I haven't been disappointed with much in the way of Nielsen's music. So this is one mistake I'm looking forward to. And it's a good way to honor his birthday today.

I've got Bloomstedt doing Nielsen with San Fran and I really like those. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Hey, remember when I bought all that Vivaldi a little while ago? Yeah, well...

I liked his concerti so much I decided to buy the lot of'em! I'm taking a risk with all this Hogwood, most of which seems out of print (had to order used). After these get here I'll have all of his published concerti at my disposal (save Op. 7, which doesn't seem available). Just to clarify, the albums above are his Op. 4, Op. 6, Op. 9, Op. 10, Op. 11, and Op. 12 concerti.

Forgot to mention at the weekend I found something as rare as Poppies on the Moon in a specialist backstreet CM store...

Of will be reporting on it in due course.

A new Handel piece - exciting! I'll look forward to the inevitable samples!

Well the recording is a few years old now, but it is still the only one of Atalanta I think. I do not have high hopes for this performance however, given their wretched rendition of Il Pastor Fido, but hopefully I can salvage enough from it to present something. I still have Ezio to do as well, though we have touched on that piece in one topic already.

Borders is handing out coupons for $5 off CDs, so I picked through their woefully gutted classical section and found two pieces I've been needing to add to my collection. I like what Guilini does to Pictures at an Exhibition; I'm not sure about Bohm's mannered Mozart. But for $3 each, I'm happy.

Haven't heard of that group before, Rod. Again, will look forward to your review.

Yes you have, I presented their recording of Amadigi here in my topic on that piece. You reviewed them too!

I went back to Borders and picked this up for $3 with their coupon.

Schubert's Lieder have been on my bucket list, so I also found this for $2.

My to-listen list is stacking up.

Borders is not usually price competitive here in the UK. I used to listen to new CD at Borders because they had a lot of listening posts, then I'd go over the road to HMV to actually buy the goods for £2 less!
